- Sonbol Taefi

Born in the south of Iran, Sonbol Táefi is a singer, composer, and producer of several albums of original music.

Her musical career began at the age of 9 when she started to appear on children’s television shows at her home town of Bandar Abbas. She started performing on stage from early age and worked with different bands and orchestras. She started to write, compose and record music after arriving in New Zealand, where she is currently residing with her family, and has since worked with many acclaimed musicians both in New Zealand and overseas.

Inspired by the poets of 19th Century, and the influence of her Bahá’i background and the Writings of Bahá’u’lláh, she has created a new style of music, which is modern, but has classical themes. Her recent recordings have been arranged by acclaimed concert pianist and musical director Stephen Small. Her latest album ‘Sea of Mystery’ was recorded with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra directed and produced by well-known composer Tom Price.

She sings in different languages although her original language is Persian, and has given concerts in Australia, New Zealand, United States, Canada, South Africa, China, Macau, Samoa and England. She has also participated as a performer in numerous artistic events and conferences throughout the world.

Sonbol enjoys learning songs in different languages, and has performed in multiple languages, including English, Samoan, Persian, Maori, and Zulu.
